Steering Committee

Under IOC Res XXVI-8 to Strengthen and Streamline GOOS the Steering Committee is comprised of: 5 members representing IOC Regions; 10 scientific and technical experts; ex-officio officers of subsidiary bodies (JCOMM, GRC, IODE); representatives of co-sponsoring; and the GPO director (secretary). Regional Alliances

The GOOS Regional Alliances identify, enable, and develop sustained GOOS ocean monitoring and services to meet regional and national priorities, aligning the global goals of GOOS with the need for services and products satisfying local requirements. DIRECTORY

National Focal Points

The National Focal Points are the appropriate contact points in each Member State for affairs regarding the implementation of GOOS at national and global levels. This list is based on answers to Circular Letter 2328rev sent on 27 january 2010. The list will be updated upon request to the GOOS Project Office of IOC National representatives (IOC action addresses or UNESCO permanent delegations). DIRECTORY

Panels

The Panels are advisory bodies which supply the GSC with scientific studies and expertise underpinning the strategic goals of GOOS. The Physics panel continues its role advising GOOS and GCOS on essential ocean variables related to global ocean physics. The Biogeochemistry panel will be organized by the International Ocean Carbon Coordination Panel (IOCCP). The Biology panel is a new creation, which has received support for a new Secretariat hosted by Australia. The Biology and Ecosystems panel had their first formative meetings in Nov. 2013. DIRECTORY
