Data Buoy Cooperation Panel (DBCP)

The DBCP was formed in 1985, as a joint body of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO.

It coordinates the drifting buoy and moored buoy component of the Global Ocean Observing System, World Weather Watch, the World Climate Research Programme, the Global Climate Observing System and the WMO Integrated Global Observing System.

The DBCP increases the quantity, quality and timeliness of atmospheric and oceanographic data in all ocean areas both in real time and delayed mode, to improve global forecasts of weather and ocean conditions, as well as to contribute to climate studies and oceanographic research.
