Ship of Opportunity Programme (SOOP)

SOOP is an international program mainly involved in the implementation, maintenance, enhancement, and data management of upper ocean measurements from Ships Of Opportunity (SOO).

Several observational platforms are operated and coordinated within SOOP, including Expendable BathyThermographs (XBTs), ThermoSalinoGraphs (TSGs), and Partial Pressure of Carbon Dioxide (pCO2). Additionally, SOOP supports other observational platforms, including the deployment of drifters and profiling floats.

SOOP activities are coordinated by the SOOP Panel as part of the broader Ship Observations Team
