The Regional Arctic Ocean Decade Workshop held in Copenhagen (Denmark) 29 April - 1 May is part of a global consultation process in the preparation of the UN Decade, where the focus is the Arctic. It offers an opportunity to formulate, discuss, prioritize and formulate proposals for Arctic initiatives to be framed under the Decade.
The workshop is hosted by the Danish Center for Marine Research in collaboration with UNESCO's IOC.The Arctic deserves special focus as the region is currently experiencing rapid change. This is materialized as changes in physical and chemical conditions, modifications to ecosystem structure ans the distribution of species, and an increase of commercial activities.
