Seismic and tsunami warning operators training on strengthening tsunami SOPs in the South China Sea region

IOC training for seismic and tsunami warning operators on strengthening standard operating procedures for seismic data and tsunami warning in the South China Sea region

9 – 10 Dec 2021, Beijing, China

At its 10th session (online, 28-30 September 2021), the Intergovernmental Coordinating Group for Pacific Tsunami Warning System (ICG/PTWS) Regional Working Group on Tsunami Warning and Mitigation System for the South China Sea Region (WG-SCS) agreed to conduct an IOC Training, at the kind invitation of SCSTAC/NMEFC.

Four main topics will be addressed: (i) new methods and technologies of seismic data processing and analysis; (ii) sea level data processing; (iii) tsunami numerical modelling and forecasting; and (iv) tsunami risk assessment.
