Since its establishment in 1988, the GE-GLOSS has provided oversight and coordination for global and regional sea-level networks in support of scientific research. Its activities also encompass the study of vertical land motion near tide gauges via benchmark monitoring and continuous GNSS measurements.
The recently approved Global Sea Level Observing System (GLOSS): Implementation Plan, 2026, highlights that sea level is both an Essential Ocean Variable (EOV), an Essential Geodetic Variable (EGV), and an Essential Climate Variable (ECV), and is therefore central to climate monitoring, coastal risk management, and operational oceanography.
It is my pleasure to invite you (or a representative) to participate in the Nineteenth Meeting of the Group of Experts on the Global Sea-Level Observing System (GLOSS) to be held in Room IX at UNESCO Headquarters, Paris, France, from 19-21 May 2027.
