At its twelfth session, in Melbourne, Australia, in May 2023, the Ship Observations Team (SOT) reinforced the view that the work of Port Meteorological Officers (PMOs) was crucial for the Volunatry Observing Ships (VOS) Panel. A seventh PMO workshop will therefore be held in Nadi, Fiji, from 31 October to 2 November 2023 with the kind invitation from the Pacific Community (SPC). The primary focus of the workshop is to help build capability in the Pacific region by developing new VOS programmes in the South Pacific region.
