Deadline: 26 September 2025
Under the Global Ocean Observing System 2030 Strategy, a key objective is to build advocacy and visibility with stakeholders through communicating with national governments, user sectors, the GOOS community of observers, UN Agencies and partners on the importance of ocean observing, the benefits of a coordinated Global Ocean Observing System, and the role of GOOS. A critical component of this is ensuring these are well-represented in an up-to-date and consistent manner across various communications outlets.
GOOS is looking for a Communications Consultant who will take responsibility for implementing communications work and supporting the continued development of the GOOS Communications Plan, under the guidance of the GOOS Director and Programme Specialist, and with input from the GOOS Steering Committee and IOC governing bodies.
For the period 2025-2026 it is envisioned that this consultancy will encompass coordinating website updates, development of the annual GOOS Ocean Observing Report Card, development of communications campaigns around key UN events, ensuring brand consistency and managing regular communications through various channels.
The position is an 11-month consultancy. The detailed Terms of Reference for this consultancy can be found here.
